The EASS Saturday Centre opened in January 2003 and provides a wide range of music and drama opportunities for children who live and/or attend school in the London Borough of Enfield. Guided by our team of specialist music and drama tutors, pupils develop their knowledge, skills and understanding in music and drama in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

SATURDAY CENTRE ACTIVITIES IN MUSIC AND DRAMA

Children having instrumental lessons are encouraged to attend the activity sessions on offer at the Saturday Centre, as appropriate. EASS will endeavour to timetable instrumental lessons around the activity sessions.

Instrumental lessons are subject to available tutors, accommodation, hire instruments (where applicable) and viable groupings.


Saturday Music Clubs
:
10.30am - 11.15am Reception - School Year 1
11.15am - 12.00 noon School Year 1 - School Year 2

These clubs for reception and key stage 1 pupils are led by a primary school specialist. Pupils listen, sing and play hand-held and utuned percussion instruments (e.g. tambourines, xylophones) and move to music. The Music clubs are an excellend foundation for learning to play an instrument later on.

Saturday Keyboard Club: 11.30am - 12.30pm

For pupils who have had a minimum of 2 terms of keyboard lessons.

Pupils will learn a variety of music and perform together as a group. Pupils must bring their own electronic keyboard with batteries.


Drama Clubs:

Pupils in school years 4 - 6, 9.00am - 10.30am
Pupils in school years 7+, 10.45am - 12.15pm

Drama is fun, challenging and builds self-confidence. Activities include improvisation, working texts, puppets and masks, making up sketches and playes, role play, movement and stage skills. Activities developed during sessions are then performed in regular end of term performances.

Saturday Strings
: 9.10-10.10am

A mixed string ensemble for pupils who are learning violin, viola, 'cello and double bass. The group is open to pupils who have had a minimum of 2 terms tuition. Saturday Strings is led by strings specialist tutors and the ensemble plays a variety of music, both classical and popular.


Saturday Singers:
10.20am - 11.20am

Choir for primary school pupils in school years 3 to 6. Fun sessions which will develop children's vocal skills. They will sing songs in a wide variety of styles including pop, jazz, musicals, folk songs from around the world, songs in parts and much more.....!

End of Term Presentations

All Saturday Centre music and drama activity groups have opportunities to perform to an audience of family and friends at the end of each term. These presentations often also include solos by Saturday Centre pupils who are having individual instrumental lessons.


Termly Membership Fees
(valid from Summer Term 2008-Summer Term 2009)

The fee per activity session is £33.00
Maximum fee for two or more activity sessions is £66.00

Concessions may be given at the discretion of EASS. Applications should be sent in writing to EASS and each case will be considered on an individual basis.
