Why Join a Group? (top)
Being a member of a group can create a real sense of achievement for children, and can develop confidence and self-esteem. Joining a group can be both educational and fun!
Music ensembles offer pupils opportunities to develop their musical skills, extend their musical knowledge and broaden their repertoire. Playing in an ensemble gives meaning to the whole experience of learning a musical instrument.
Which Activities are Available? (faq)
The list of activities is shown here indicating the standard or age group applicable for each group. Instrumental activities cater for a wide range of ability from beginners who have had only two terms of tuition up to more advanced players of Grade 5 and above. From Beginner Strings to the Enfield Young Symphony Orchestra, from Keyboard Club to the Enfield Schools Jazz Band, there is something for everybody.
Who Can Take Part? (top)
Activities are open to all young people attending school and/or living in the London Borough of Enfield and in the case of our adult Enfield Goes Gospel choir, for all adults living in the London Borough of Enfield or who have children who attend an Enfield school.
If your child is already learning an instrument, either through the EASS Scheme or privately, he or she can join an ensemble of the appropriate standard.
The Music Clubs, Enfield Sings Choir, Enfield Young Disciples Gospel Choir and Steel Pan groups are open to children of specific ages but no previous experience is required.
If your child has any special educational needs or there are other issues which you think the tutor should be aware of, please attach details to the application form.
What Progress Can Be Made? (faq)
There is a clear progression between instrumental ensembles. Children can move on to the next group when they have reached the required standard or on the recommendation of the conductor or tutor.
