Instrumental Tuition - both in schools and at the Saturday Centre

The following is the scale of fees for 9 lessons to be given in the Spring Term 2009. (The number of instrumental lessons given each term will vary between 8 and 11 depending on the length of the term. A renewal form sent to you each term will indicate the number of lessons to be given and the fee adjusted accordingly).

Subject to available funding EASS is able to offer one term of free group lessons, paired lessons or 20 minute individual lessons to pupils wishing to learn certain minority instruments. The current £26.00 instrumental hire fee (from Spring 2009) will be payable.(Pupils will be accepted for one course of free taster lessons on one instrument only)
Free taster lessons are currently available on:- all brass and woodwind instruments (except recorder), Tabla, Viola, 'Cello, Double Bass.
The Triangle Trust is a registered Charity which each year sets aside a proportion of its funds to support
individuals across the community. Within the education field this applies to areas without statutory
sources of funding. Periodic donations are made to the Friends of Enfield Arts Support Service Charity.
From September 2008 the criteria for application are:
· pupil’s parent is in receipt of working tax credit (not income support or income-based job seekers
allowance) – proof of working tax credit needs to be attached to the application;
· pupil is in primary school year 1-6;
· pupil has not had lessons before and wishes to learn violin, piano, keyboard, recorder, guitar or
drum kit; OR pupil has had one term of free taster lessons on viola, cello, double bass, woodwind
or brass instrument and wishes to continue learning the same instrument;
· pupil’s application is supported by his/her school;
· pupil’s parent/carer agrees to provide (or hire) an instrument and encourages the pupil to
undertake regular practice at home between lessons.
A pupil awarded a Triangle Trust Bursary will receive a tuition fee discount (maximum of 50%) for three
terms of lessons. Awards are subject to available funding. No awards are made for instrument hire fees.
Pupils from families in receipt of Income Support or Income-Based Job Seekers Allowance will be granted free group lessons. If group lessons are unavailable, pupils will be offered paired or individual lessons as available. Parents/carers will be charged for instrument hire if applicable.
Pupils in Local Authority Care [Looked-after Children] will be granted free tuition and free instrument hire.
The current hire fee is £26.00 per term (correct as at Autumn 2008). EASS hires most instruments but does not hire Keyboards, Pianos, Recorders, Acoustic or Electric Guitar, Percussion/Drum Kits. After-School/Saturday Centre Activities
There is a termly membership subscription for each activity of £33.00 - (from Autumn Term 2008). However, our policy is that no pupil should be excluded from joining for financial reasons. Applications for concessions should be sent in writing and each case will be considered individually at the discretion of the EASS Management Team.
